What an Amazing 2025 Sunflower Festival!
This year’s Kalbar Sunflower Festival was our biggest and brightest yet, bringing thousands of visitors together to celebrate the joy of sunflowers, community, and giving back. From the spectacular sunflower fields and stunning photo moments to our vibrant artisan markets and special experiences and sensory garden there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Some of this year’s highlights included our popular pick-your-own sunflowers area, Devonshire tea marquee, art and flower crown workshops, live music, and our unforgettable long lunch events featuring fabulous food by our favourite chef Richard Ousby and his talented team. We also unveiled new photography props across the fields, and were so touched by all the wonderful feedback from visitors who appreciated every detail that made the festival feel extra special.
Our community mural project was another milestone, with two beautiful murals completed and soon heading off to their forever homes as a lasting reminder of the creativity and spirit our festival inspires.
Most importantly, with your support, we raised $160,000 for cancer care and palliative care, a cause incredibly dear to our hearts.
We were also blessed with perfect weather, and none of it would have been possible without our incredible volunteers whose dedication and hard work kept everything running smoothly all weekend. A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors and our team of photographers and our videographer who captured the magic so beautifully. A special mention to my small but mighty festival team who made all the magic happen – Gail, Peta, Caz, Don and Joy oh and Bruce of course! There would be no sunflowers planted if Bruce wasn’t here to do this for me.
We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, shared the sunshine, and helped put Kalbar on the map as a must-visit destination. Thank you for making this festival such a success — we can’t wait to welcome you back in 2026!

Volunteering at the Kalbar Sunflower Festival is an exciting, fun and rewarding experience! Whether you are assisting with ticket sales, cutting flowers or providing information you’ll be part of our friendly team whilst meeting new people and learning new skills.
A celebration born out of hardship
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Scenic Rim Region you will find us amongst the million sunflowers at our annual Kalbar Sunflower Festival. In 2021, Lucerne farmers Jenny and Russell Jenner were struggling to keep their crops alive during one of the longest droughts in living memory. Water had gotten so bad that they couldn’t grow their main crop, but after Russell brought a bunch of sunflowers home from the grocery store the two had a light bulb moment. Sunflowers need very little water and they look spectacular and from there the festival grew.
