🌻Sunflower FEstival🌻
2025 fundraising impact

We are so proud to share the incredible impact of our fundraising efforts at this year’s Kalbar Sunflower Festival. Thanks to the generosity and support of our community, together we raised an outstanding $160,000 through sunflower sales, raffles, the Devonshire Tea, and our special sunflower rock memorial.

Of these funds, $100,000 has been donated to the Mater Foundation to help continue funding the vital role of a Cancer Care Co-ordinator at Mater Hospital Springfield — a position that provides essential support to patients and their families navigating a cancer diagnosis.

The remaining funds will go towards purchasing cuddle beds for Ipswich Hospital, Mater South Brisbane, and Hummingbird House, Queensland’s only children’s hospice. These special beds bring comfort and connection to families, allowing loved ones to be close together in their final moments.

We also value our strong connection with the Alison Baden-Clay Foundation. Sunflowers were Alison’s favourite flower, and since 2021, we have proudly supported the Foundation by providing sunflowers for their annual fundraising campaign, Strive to be Kind. From this year’s festival, we have also donated $5,000 to help continue their important work in promoting respectful relationships and preventing domestic and family violence.

From all of us at the festival, thank you for helping us make such a meaningful difference. 💛

Funding for Cancer Care Coordinator, NINETTA STOCKWELL,  at Mater Springfield Hospital

We’re thrilled to announce that thanks to the incredibly generous donations raised at this year’s Kalbar Sunflower Festival, Ninetta Stockwell has begun her new role as a Mater Cancer Care Coordinator in Springfield!
This newly established position ensures patients continue to receive seamless and coordinated care throughout their cancer treatment—right in their own community.
“I am deeply honoured to step into this role. It’s crucial for cancer patients to have consistent and compassionate care close to home, and I’m excited to contribute to making that a reality. This role allows me to make a tangible difference in our community, which is incredibly fulfilling.”
A huge shoutout to Jenny Jenner, the driving force behind the Kalbar Sunflower Festival, who raised an astounding $110,000 in April for Mater Cancer Care Springfield.
Jenny’s inspiration comes from her late husband Russell’s care journey.
Jenny reflects, “I wanted to give back to the Mater Cancer Care Centre because of the incredible support Russell and our family received. It’s a way to honour his memory and help others going through similar battles.”

The Kalbar Sunflower Festival is proud to support the following charities through its fundraising efforts…

The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation aims to educate the community about family and domestic violence and empower them to aid in prevention.

Each year throughout the month of July, The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation launches their Strive To Be Kind campaign which aims to raise awareness about family and domestic violence and encourage people to practice kindness in their daily lives.

Funds raised from activities hosted by The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation go towards the development of programs that educate the community and provide them with the tools to help prevent family and domestic violence.

Kalbar Sunflowers have been proud supporters and have donated flowers for Strive To Be Kind month since 2021 and are excited about extending their fundraising for 2025 to include the ABC Foundation.

The Daisy Fields

The 1st October 2022 after months of planning we hosted our Pink Long Table Lunch in the Daisy Fields. We planted 3000 square metres of pink and white everlasting daisies back in June especially for this fundraiser. To say it touched my heart was an understatement. From the beautiful ladies I had the pleasure to work with to put this event on to all the wonderful guests that bought tickets and came along it was just amazing. Enjoy some of these beautiful photos taken by the very generous Cas from Inc Mill Photography!

A special thank you goes to Caz Osbourne for all her help and support and being the MC on the day. Lana from Flutterby Gourmet Creations for the beautiful pink lunch, Laura Frank and Nick for entertaining us with their beautiful music. The wonderful stall holders that came along. To our special friends and helpers in the lead up and on the day setting up, serving, cleaning and packing away. Thank you to Gail, Sue, Heather, Barb, Caz, Russell, Kerry and Greg. The Folk and Co crew who wowed us with their first fashion parade! and to all those that donated raffle prizes for the event, thankyou!

The journey that women suffering with breast cancer go through can be heart breaking. I was fortunate enough to spend time with some ladies during the course of the daisies this year both in the lead up to the lunch and during our pick your own sessions held here at the farm. I was truly inspired by their stories and wish them all the very best during their treatment and life ahead. We hope that the funds we could raise will help make a difference.
